Starting in 1948, Porsche has led a legacy of greatness with an impressive lineup of high-performing sports cars.  And for the past 70 years since the company began, there have been many impressive moments highlighting the Porsche lineup.  Here are our favorite top 10 Porsche milestones that showcase both performance and remarkable feats of Porsche vehicles.

1951 Porsche 356 SL wins the Le Mans

1951: 

The Porsche 356 SL drew international attention to the company by achieving a class victory during the 24th hour of the Le Mans race. 

1962 Porsche 804 wins Formula 1 race

1962: 

The Porsche 804 went ahead and won the French Grand Prix in Formula 1, further proving to the world the advanced performance of Porsche models. 

First Ever 1963 Porsche 901

1963: 

As the successor to the 356, the legendary Porsche 901 fastback coupe was introduced and was later named the 911. 

Introduction of 1975 Porsche 911 Turbo

1975: 

Porsche presented the first 911 Turbo during the oil crisis as the world’s first production sports car with an exhaust turbocharger and pressure regulator.

Porsche V6 TAG turbo engine

1983: 

The Porsche V6 TAG turbo engine became with most successful German Formula 1 racing engine with 25 Grand Prix wins and 3 World Championship titles. 

1995 Porsche 911 Turbo with twin-turbo and AWD

1995: 

For the first time, the Porsche 911 Turbo features a twin-turbo and was the first turbo model to be equipped with All-Wheel Drive. 

2002 Porsche Cayenne SUV introduced

2002: 

Porsche introduces its third series: the Porsche Cayenne SUV.  It was also the first V8 engine Porsche vehicle built since the Porsche 928 was discontinued in 1995. 

2010 Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid concept

2010: 

Presented at the Geneva Motor Show, Porsche introduces the 918 Spyder high-performance hybrid concept study. 

2015 Porsche Mission E concept

2015: 

While at the IAA, Porsche unveiled its first all-electric Mission E concept study that combines amazing driving performance and everyday practicality. 

1 Millionth Porsche 911 in 2017

2017: 

On May 11, 2017, the 1 millionth Porsche 911 rolled off the production line in beautiful Irish Green at the Zuffenhausen plant.
