Car manufacturers do many things in the name of charity, and Porsche seems to have found an exciting way to do good. The German sports car manufacturer has teamed up with animation studio Pixar to create a special one-of-one, road-legal 911 inspired by the animated Sally Carrera based on the Porsche 911 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the character from Pixar’s celebrated animated movie Cars. What’s even more remarkable is that the unique car from Porsche would have a charitable twist too. Keep reading this blog from Porsche Delaware in Newark, DE to learn more.

A Special Porsche for a Special Cause

Appropriately called the Sally Special, Porsche has brought to life the animated character Sally Carrera from the 2011 classic Pixar movie Cars 2 by building a one-off 911 that will be debuted during this year’s Monterey Car Week.

To create the unique model, an ambitious team from Weissach Porsche and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Stuttgart teamed up with members of the original Cars creative team and worked together to take Sally Carrera looks and turn it into a street-legal 911 Carrera that will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on August 20, 2022, as part of California’s Monterey Car Week with proceeds going to Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR. The objective is to raise as much money as possible for Girls. Inc and UNHCR to help support families (especially women and children) forced to flee Ukraine.

How Did Porsche Build the Porsche 911 Sally Special?

In the movie, Sally Carrera’s character was based on a 2002 Porsche 911. However, Porsche has gone with the current 911 Carrera GTS – the quickest variant of the 911 Carrera – as a starting point for its ambitious charitable project. It is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat six that makes 473 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and features many unique elements inspired by the animated car except for the smiling face in place of the grille and the eyes for the windshield.

The one-of-one 911 Sally Special adorns a one-of-a-kind light blue body color called Sally Blue Metallic that’s completely hand applied, a nod to Sally Carrera’s appearance from the film. This color also runs on the dashboard, center console, and door trim. Sally Special rides on a unique set of turbo wheels which measure 20 inches in front and 21 inches at the rear. Apart from this, there are plenty of Easter eggs in the Sally Special. For example, it has a badge on the B-pillar featuring Sally Carrera’s signature, a Cars logo on the tire valve stem caps, door panels, and on the side of the seats, and the drive mode selector knob next to the steering wheel says “Ka-chow! Mode.” There’s even a tiny drawing of Sally Carrera on the passenger side of the dashboard.

The lucky buyer of the Sally Special will also get a matching watch, a car cover, a second set of wheels, and a book of drawings from Cars production designer Bob Pauley.
