Well, 16-year-old kart racing prodigy C<\/span>hloe Chambers used a 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder to set a Guinness World Record<\/span>\u2122<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for the fastest recorded vehicle\u00a0<\/span>slalom<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Chambers traveled the length of a<\/span>\u00a0New Jersey\u00a0<\/span>airport runway, weaving between a line of 50 traffic cones in 47.45 seconds on Aug. 21 with\u00a0<\/span>evaluators from the Guinness Book of World Records on hand. \u201cIt looks easy, but it\u2019s really not \u2013 to weave between 50 cones as fast as possible, trying to beat a record time and knowing I couldn\u2019t touch a single one for the run to count \u2013 I definitely felt the pressure,\u201d Chambers said in a Porsche press release. \u201cEverything came together on my final run; the car worked beautifully, and I found the grip I needed. How was the car modified? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Automakers put their vehicles through performance stunts like the one completed by Chambers all the time. Many of them will tweak the vehicle to make them a little faster, a little lighter and\/or a little more responsive. Porsche didn\u2019t need to do any of that for the 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder piloted down that professionally surveyed runway course. Every piece and component of the vehicle Chambers drove was stock, just like a Porsche Delaware customer would find in the Porsche Delaware showroom.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was under the hood? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 2020 Porsche 718 Spyder is a very special sports car to be sure. It has a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter, boxer-style six-cylinder engine under the hood that was mated to a six-speed manual transmission. While the 718 Spyder can make up to 414 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque, the slalom isn\u2019t necessarily about power \u2013 precision is the name of the game. Of course, a car can only respond to its driver\u2019s inputs \u2013 it’s not magic. However, the race track-ready Porsche Active Suspension Management system and its adaptive dampers combined with the lower ride height of the 2020 718 Spyder definitely put Chambers in the best position to succeed in her efforts.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
